One 60-day cruise around Australia is being halted following the tragic passing of an older female passenger who was left behind by the cruise liner on a isolated coastal location.

The passenger had been hiking on the tropical location with shipmates from the cruise ship, but parted ways from the party for a break. The liner sailed away leaving her and returned later that day after the crew realised the passenger was missing.

A major rescue mission located her remains the subsequent day.

Investigative bodies are examining the tragedy, alongside investigators and the medical examiner.

The CEO of the shipping company said that passengers and personnel on the Coral Adventurer were told that the continuation of the journey had been called off due to the "unfortunate death and previous engine troubles".

Through an announcement, he added that guests would be given a total repayment, and said the operator was working "to organize the return journeys of the passengers via specially arranged planes".

Regulatory bodies also released an updated statement, and said they had "issued a notice to the Master" banning any further travelers from boarding the ship.

The representative said that they would inspect the liner in the port city upon its return.

The vessel initially left the coastal city on October 24th, and was just two days into the voyage at the time of the elderly woman's death. The remote island was the first stop on the journey.

Guests on the ship - who usually pay tens of thousands of currency to take part in the cruise - were taken there for a shore visit with the possibility of hiking or snorkeling.

Family Reaction

The offspring of the victim said that her relatives was "stunned and saddened that the liner left the location after an scheduled excursion without my mum".
